There are some speculations about twitter that they are not really a news source but now they will give an award for the most popular one. Tweets, the Shorty Awards will be given sometime next January. This has been the topic in the search.twitter.com they will set the Twitter’s best and brightest with their own awards. This contest has the purpose to know who the best Twitter user is. The categories is ranging from Business to Food, some user can submit custom categories.

From this day user can start nominating their favorites and they just need to follow some of the rules in sending the proper format.

* To nominate someone for a Shorty Award, use form on this site, or send a tweet similar to this: @shortyawards I nominate @someone in category #news because… (but write something of your own).
* The text of the tweet is completely up to you. As long as it contains @shortyawards @someone #category you can be as creative with the rest as you like.
* You actually have to write something. Just submitting the default tweet doesn’t count.

The first round of voting will end at December 31 there will be five Tweeters for the most nomination from each category and will take part on the final round of the contest between January 5th and 14th. The ceremony will be at New York sometime in January. The winners are in need of giving acceptance speeches in person or via video with 140 characters or less.
